A breath of fresh air!

Oh finally! We finished Caleb and Haley's play room in the basement. We started the project right before Christmas and yesterday the carpet was laid and all the toys made their way to their playroom! I still cannot believe that it is done. I have ZERO toys in my family room, dinning room, or living room! It is a breath of fresh air for me. I get kind of crazy when there is just stuff everywhere. And I really hate stepping on some little car. But now they are all in the playroom! I am so glad that we bought a house that we can grow into. Shane and I sat back the other night and remembered what our house was like when we first bought it. We have four bedrooms upstairs and all of the doors were closed except the door to our room. We had family room furniture and a kitchen table and that was it as far as furniture. Now we have Caleb's sporty room, Haley's precious nursery, a office, and our room upstairs. We also have 1/2 of the basement finished for Caleb and Haley's playroom. We still have room in the basement for a fifth bedroom and a bathroom that we plan on finishing...just not right now :) I will post pictures of the basement and of Addison as soon as I upload them to my computer.

Addison Faith

Addison Faith joined our world today at about 11:30am. She weighs 7lbs 1oz and is 19inches long. She is so beautiful!!! Shane and I are so excited to finally join in on the Aunt and Uncle roles. Caleb and Haley have their first cousin!! Mommy (Amanda) is doing great. I will post pictures later.

Time is flying by us!

We are very busy over here in the Nolan household! Caleb is loving the nice summer days! He wants to play outside all the time. We go to the neighborhood pool at least a couple times per week. I love that it is just 2 blocks down the street. I am also very thankful that Caleb has been in swim lessons since he was about a year old. He can't actually swim...but he gets the idea of the water...hold your breath, scoot along the wall, isn't afraid, and etc. It makes it easier since I am just one parent and I have two kiddos in the water. Haley loves the water as well. We do not have her in swim lessons because we learned that at her age we can do a lot of it on our own right now. Caleb on the other hand is in preschool level swim lessons and is in the water without Shane or I, just his instructor and his classmates are in the water.

I just found a place today that has soccer for the little kids. So starting in August we will have Caleb in soccer. I am so excited!! I will officially be the soccer mom in the mini-van!! I really am excited to get Caleb involved in sports.

Haley, oh Haley. This little girl is my little pistol. She has been pulling herself up onto furniture for a few weeks now. But yesterday she started to try to stand by herself without holding onto the furniture. And today she was in her walker and dropped her care bear and said the famous "uh oh". Unreal how fast she has become mobile and is constantly changing and growing. She is EIGHT months yesterday!!!!!! Haley doesn't like to cuddle too much anymore. When you try to cuddle with her she tries to push away from you because she has places to be and things to do!

For those of you who are unaware; the CF Foundation has been making unbelievable strides in their research for drug or therapy that would make CF much more manageable or possibly cured. One VERY promising drug is in phase 2 of it's research. There are 3 total phases until it is released to patients. This particular drug is known as the VX-770. It is targeted toward the CF population that has G511D as one of their mutations. Only about 3-4% of all CF patients carry this specific mutation and Caleb is one of them. This drug has shown unbelievable and never seen before results up to this point. Even though it is only targeting a specific mutation (G511D) it is a gateway to several other mutations. Research has already started for other mutations. My prayers are of so much hope, so much praise, so much rejoice, and just amazement. I have been looking all over my articles about the research that is being done (because of course I am following every move this drug makes) and I know that in one of my articles I read a prominent person (researcher or CFF representative) state that we all knew the day we found a cure for CF there would be a big party, and the person in the article said "so we should maybe start looking at invitations". I wish I could reference this article-but it is late as usual and I cannot find it. I wish I could put down in words how a mother feels when she reads something like this. Or how a mother feels when she finds out that not only is this drug in research but that her son's CF doctor is on the front lines of this research. The research is not something taking place millions of miles away-but the clinical trials are being done right here at the Children's Hospital that we visit at least once every 90 days. All that I can say is the Lord is amazing. He makes the blind see and when you thought there was only one set of footprints it was because he was carrying you. I hope that makes sense to you-it makes perfect sense to me.

Happy Father's Day (belated)

Happy Father's Day! We hope everyone had a nice weekend. We went up to Loveland on Saturday and spent some time with my Grandparents. My grandfather (maternal) is in a nursing home. We went up to Loveland and took him home for a few hours. We had a nice lunch and the kids roamed and kid invaded their home as usual. It was a really nice day. My Mom got my Grandfather a machine known as the Presto. I had never heard of it before but what it is, is a machine that we can send emails to him with pictures. The machine simply prints them out for him at the designated times that he has chosen. He cannot reply to the emails, he doesn't have to push any buttons to receive the email, they simply just print out at his times he has picked. It is so awesome! I have sent him two emails already with pictures of the kiddos attached. It is nice that he has something to look forward to everyday. My goal...to send him at least one email per day. If you have an elderly relative who can get lonely this is the perfect gift. Oh yeah and the only people who can send him emails are people who are on the approved list-so that means no SPAM!!!

Yesterday we (the kids and Shane) went to Waterworld for the day. Father's get in free on Father's Day, our kids are free because of their ages, and I only had to pay $13 since we live in the resident discount area. Very cheap day!! We don't buy any of the junk food there-we bring our own picnic lunch. We had a ton of fun. Caleb was not to keen for any of the rides this year (very opposite attitude in comparison to last year) but he had fun playing in Wally World. Haley was just doing what 7 month olds do-splashing and sitting in the water.

How time flies

when you are having fun! The summer has officially started in the Nolan household. We have planted our flowers (okay not "we" but Shane has...I don't have that green finger thing) and outside we have been. Caleb started his "Preschool" swim lessons this past Saturday. No more Parent-Tot for us :( He is doing so well by himself. Completely carefree in the water. The potty training is pretty much over-he is doing great. But geez it sure took awhile for him to get the pooping thing down. So because I have been a little cautious I have been putting a swim diaper on him...just in case. Well today me and the kids went to the pool for a few hours and when we were leaving Caleb was kind of dancing around (I am still trying to potty train myself when it comes to his hints he is giving me). As we walked through the locker room Caleb told me he had to go to potty. So he did...and it was obvious that he never peed in the pool!!!!! I was so proud of him! He also has not had a poopy accident in the last two days. So no more swim diapers for him!

Haley is cutting THREE more teeth! She already has her bottom two, and now her top two plus another on the bottom are nearly thru her gums. She is also pulling herself up. It feels like I just had her yesterday. It seems like Haley is growing up faster than Caleb did. But then again Caleb did not roll over till he was 6 mos and army crawled at 9 mos, then he walked at 13 months. Haley rolled over at 4 months, crawled at 6 months...but do you think she can hold her own bottle? Of course not. That is okay...I love craddling my little one as long as I can. Who knows...she might be my last baby :( (I think I am sad-ask me tomorrow).
